Law School Personal Statement for UK
Most people at my age after high school often get a job at a neighborhood restaurant or
volunteer in a community church for sometimes. Those with work that pays some cash would
wish to buy some goodies for themselves and enjoy after that hard time in high school.
Others would wish to help their families get by paying some bills. This was different in my
case. I got a job but with one goal, to get more books and materials to start studying
interesting cases. It was what I needed to do from the start.
The decision to choose this path did not just happen but it goes way back. When I was
young, my parents got divorced and lived far apart. This experience complicated my life at
such a young age but thanks to my Aunt who made it easier for me. Aunt Jane was always
there to help my mom. She could pick me up from school and even drop me off at home
because my mom’s work was a bit demanding. She could watch me while mom does some
errands at work. Aunt did all that even though her work as a lawyer was sometimes busy. She
could always find time to come by.
While I was young, I witnessed all that was going on with my parents’ divorce and the
work that my aunt was doing. One day while I was at her office, I witnessed an event that got
me interested in studying law. It was after 2 years of my parents’ divorce. I saw two people
exiting a meeting room, with their lawyers, looking really relaxed. These were a couple
splitting up, and their lawyer, my aunt, had kept the negotiations amicable and casual. From
my parents’ experience, I knew how hard such a process is. However, I was pleased to see
that with skill and care, lawyers are in a better place to make that process a lot easier.
My interest grew further and I started to talk with other lawyers at her office asking
